Covid, Cold, Flu, and Achoo!

It’s that time of year again-cold and flu season. We know keeping yourself and your newborn healthy is of great importance! The following are some pointers to keep those “achoo’s” at bay.

  • Wash hands on a regular basis and not just with hand sanitizer. Sanitizer works in a pinch, but warm water, soap and vigorous rubbing washes those germs away better than anything!

  • Remind those feeling unwell to stay at home. We know it’s tough to tell Grandma she will have to visit another day, but make good use of virtual options until those sniffles are completely gone.

  • Consider vaccines or other therapies as given by your chosen care provider as a preventative measure. These may include vitamins, health foods, minerals, or current recommendations on the covid-19 vaccine and booster as well as flu.

  • Eat healthy and get adequate rest. Maintaining a healthy immune system is vital as a pregnant person or the new parent of a newborn. Sleeping and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables can help increase immune function.

  • Consider wearing a mask when out in public or in higher risk areas like waiting rooms.

  • Avoid touching your face before you’ve washed those hands!
